Seagate (STX) remains top dog in the hard drive storage market in the fall, according to the latest numbers from market research firm iSuppli, leading Western Digital (WDC), Hitachi (HIT), Samsung and Toshiba. More highlights from iSuppli's report: Seagate kept the lead in 3.5-inch drives for TiVo-like devices, with a 44.2 percent share. Its closest rival in that business, Western Digital, had 32.5 percent.

Sony (SNE) will lose $241.35 on every PlayStation 3 game console it sells at $599, and $306.85 on every console it sells with a smaller hard drive at $499, according to an analysis of the component costs conducted by iSuppli, a research firm.

Consider that every time you do a search, Google stores information about things such as what you searched for, at what time, and how long it took you to find it. Increasingly in the Web 2.0 age, service providers also store our e-mail, documents, spreadsheets, Web pages, books, music, video and more.
