Peter Burrows, a tech writer who knows his stuff, reports in Bloomberg Businessweek that Apple (AAPL) is putting the finishing touches on two key technologies:

Here's how these rumors get started. Someone tipped off Peter Burrows at Bloomberg Businessweek that Apple (AAPL) was waiting until after next week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to launch an iPhone for Verizon (VZ).

HP and Palm may introduce three models of the PalmPad, a tablet aimed squarely at taking down the iPad, at this January's CES.
