Google's record on Chrome browser security is impressive, and that is important.
Google (GOOG) today fixed the recent Adobe (ADBE) Flash Zero-day exploit in which a devious hacker could embed a malicious Flash file in an Excel document and if opened could compromise Windows-based computers. Microsoft says that Office 2010 users aren't vulnerable. Apple's (AAPL) Macintosh users are not vulnerable to this particular attack either, though others could be developed using this MORE

Now in its 15th year, the South by Southwest Interactive conference has taken off like the handle of the ubiquitous hockey-stick growth model that startups at the conference aspire to. The 2011 conference saw a spike in attendance – up about MORE

The innovative Google Ventures Law services site is getting advice from former top Apple lawyer, Dan Cooperman.
LawPivot is kind of a Quora-ish Q&A site for legal advice for startups and small businesses. Lawyers post profiles and answer questions online in their forums. Business owners can then find legal advice by asking LawPivot legal questions. Those questions are tagged and matched against a database of information gathered from the lawyers on the subject matter.

ARM may be the only way for GoogleTV to get a foothold in the living room.
In November, Bloomberg issued a report saying that Samsung was going to be building GoogleTVs (GOOG), likely with Intel (INTC) chips.
That didn't make sense to me. Samsung was developing its own high power chips that are almost as fast as the standard Intel Atom processors that are inside GoogleTVs, except they are based on the ARM architecture and are extremely low MORE

Erin Burnett has hit on what she must think is a winning formula
I don't spend a lot of time watching CNBC, but I've seen enough of Erin Burnett's coverage of Apple (AAPL) to see the pattern.
Last fall, it was an interview with Tiger Management's Julian Robertson in which she tried -- and failed -- to get him to call Apple's rising stock price a "bubble." (See How not to interview MORE

Google may now be the biggest smartphone vendor on earth.
Andy Rubin just Tweeted that Google (GOOG) is activating 300,000 phones a day. That passes Apple's (AAPL) iOS, that passes Blackberry (RIMM). That even matches any figures that Symbian has ever put up (though Canalys says Nokia might be at 325,000/day).
Google is closing in on an astounding 10 million phones per month. Recall that Apple just had its biggest quarter MORE

Android users have been waiting for the just released Gingerbread upgrade. But yesterday Andy Rubin leapfrogged them by demoing next-gen OS Honeycomb, and chatting about the time Google bit off more than it could chew.
The latest version of the Android operating system, Gingerbread, is barely out of the oven but Andy Rubin, who heads up Android for Google (GOOG), couldn't resist giving the audience at the D: Dive into Mobile MORE

Facebook expands its battle plans to mobile apps and mobile phones, but it won't be building a new platform or device, it'll just open up what's already working for it. But don't hold your breath for an iPad app.
Mark Zuckerberg snuffed the hopes today of those who thought they might be getting a Facebook phone this holiday season. "There has been this rumor going around that Facebook is going to MORE

Barnes & Noble decided it had to be first to market with a color e-reader, even if that meant not putting out a perfectly polished device. But in an iPad world, the dedicated e-reader race might not even matter.
When news leaked of the Nook Color, the new e-reader with a color screen from Barnes & Noble (BKS), the hype machine went into overdrive. Pundits frothed at that idea that this could MORE
