A record turnout for the new iPhones at Apple's flagship New York City store.

FORTUNE -- By 8:45 A.M. Friday more than 1,400 customers had queued up at Apple's (AAPL) Fifth Ave. store for the launch of the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. It took nearly 7 minutes to walk the line.

Everybody we asked was hoping to buy an iPhone 5S. Or two.
