OK, it wasn't the Oscars and Steve Jobs is not Colin Firth.
But there was a sort of Best Board Member vote at Apple's (AAPL) shareholder meeting this week, and the outcome was a surprise.

The Android Market is becoming more mature.
No longer at the Android Market
Even though the Google (GOOG) Android Market significantly trails behind the Apple (AAPL) App Store, it is having some of the same problems. Today Google pulled an app out of the market for bypassing its own Google Checkout payment system and Google's 30% cut. PhoneFusion, a visual voicemail app, was notified that it had violated section 3.3 of MORE

Finding recipes is now built into Google's search.
It was never hard to find recipes on the Internet, but Google (GOOG) is making it just a bit easier by providing the option to narrow down search results to only include recipes. Although the service isn't available as of this writing, there is a landing page that explains its features.
Focus Your Search
When you search for a recipe or ingredient on Google, you'll MORE
Andreessen Horowitz and others send a big signal that web-based enterprise software startups are gaining clout with their latest investment.
Back in 2005, Aaron Levie and Dylan Smith were college dropouts with a collective $11,000 and a not-so-sexy startup idea for an online storage and collaboration service. Today, the entrepreneurial duo announced that their company, Box.net, has closed a whopping $48 million series D funding round.
The large investment is the latest sign MORE

The virtual card honoring Apple's (AAPL) CEO is the handiwork of computing students at Imperial College London. "Our aim," write ringleaders Raoul-Gabriel Urma and Gabriel Lorin, "is to allow as many people to wish him a happy birthday this way letting him know he has a back-up of so many."

The first Android OS built for tablets gets graded.
As Walt Mossberg put it, the tablet wars have begun. Before Apple (AAPL) reloads with the iPad 2 on March 2, Motorola (MMI) starts selling their XOOM tomorrow. The reviews are mostly positive with high marks for the hardware but complaints about the finish of the software. Also, few were happy about the Verizon (VZ) plan and prices ($800 or $600 with MORE
