  • Review: Dell's 4G Streak on T-Mobile

Good, but probably not good enough.

If you can somehow see through the Honeycomb hysteria going on currently, you'll notice that another Android 2.2 tablet was released today.  The Dell (DELL) Streak 7" tablet on T-Mobile is notable because it is the first to use a 4G network (quite well, I might add) and has a dual-core Nvidia Tegra processor, the same processor all of the fancy phones and tablets are going to MORE

  • Google and Twitter hook up to allow Egyptians to Tweet

Over the weekend, the new Googlers at SayNow teamed up up with Twitter to build a Voice-to-tweet solution which could help

Google purchased SayNow last week.  Instead of celebrating this weekend, the new Googlers (GOOG), with the help of their new colleagues and some folks at Twitter, put together an application that can convert a phone message into a tweet.

We worked with a small team of engineers from Twitter, Google and SayNow, MORE

  • Android grabs 22% tablet share - not!

Reports that Apple's iPad lost a big chunk of its market turn out to be premature

    Galaxy Tab. Photo: androidcentral.com

[CORRECTION: Samsung's Lee Young-hee was misquoted in the transcript cited by the Wall Street Journal. A tape recording of her remarks show that she was describing the Galaxy Tab's sell out as "quite smooth" not "quite small."]

Judging from Monday morning's tech headlines, Apple's (AAPL) iPad must have got clobbered last quarter.

  • Flipboard: Publishing Friend or Foe?

Last year's top iPad app could be a force in online content for years to come

    By John Patrick Pullen, contributor

    Flipboard on the iPad

For Mike McCue, 2010 was a very good year. In July, the CEO launched San Francisco-based Flipboard, a much-heralded social media magazine application for the iPad that captured the attention of users, publishers, and bloggers worldwide. Days later, his fledgling firm announced it had received $10.5 million MORE

  • Android's U.S. market share hits 53%

Is there an ARMDroid Dualopoly on the horizon?

In the biggest news item about Android market share since this morning, NPD group announced that in the US, Google's (GOOG) Android now outsells all of its competitors, combined.  It is important to note that NPD's data doesn't track corporate/enterprise mobile phone purchases, so RIM's(RIMM) Blackberry and to a lesser extent Apple's (AAPL) iPhone may be under-represented.  But for people who have a choice MORE

On the same day that Canalys reported that Google's (GOOG) Android had become the world's leading smartphone platform in Q4 2010 -- with 33.3% of market share to Nokia's (NOK) 31% and Apple's (AAPL) 16.2% -- Asymco's Horace Dediu posted the chart at right that puts Android's growth MORE

  • Canalys: Android becomes the world's leading smartphone OS

Not even two and a half years after it was introduced and a mere 16 months after Verizon's Droid made it a favorite, Android is now the world's leading smartphone OS.

Canalysis released their report this morning called Google's (GOOG) Android becomes the world's leading smart phone platform thereby signaling the most incredible ascent of any technology I can remember in history.  More importantly, Android is leading the charge to put smartphones, web-enabled handsets, into MORE

  • A Twitter guy takes on big banks

Jack Dorsey has a bold idea: make accepting a credit card as easy as sending a tweet.

Until recently Jack Dorsey was best known in the business world as the creator and chairman of Twitter, which has transformed the way millions of people communicate and get information. These days, though, Dorsey, 34, has been garnering bigtime buzz for his latest venture, Square, a service that aims to upend the banking industry MORE

  • Today in Tech: iPad 2, Zuckerberg on SNL

A curated selection of the weekend's most newsworthy tech stories from all over the Web.

Actor Jesse Eisenberg hosted last weekend's episode of Saturday Night Live and was joined -- albeit briefly -- by none other than Mark Zuckerberg himself. The Facebook CEO, played by Eisenberg in The Social Network, popped in during the actor's introductory monologue, where among other things, he jokingly took credit for inventing "poking." Check it out.

  • Virgin Mobile sets new standard in low cost smartphones

The LG Optimus V is now showing up at some Radio Shacks on Virgin's network for only $149.

I called Virgin Mobile's data plan the best Smartphone plan on the planet last year.  As far as I can see, no other carriers have yet come close to Virgin's $25/ month after tax, unlimited data, unlimited texts and 300 anytime minutes per month plans.  I have a hard time putting together a plan MORE
