Amazon sells Android tablets dressed up as iPads?

July 24, 2010: 9:11 AM ET

Something you expect to see on the streets of Shenzhen, China shows up on Amazon.

Amazon hasn't been officially blessed to sell Apple's iPad outright, but you can still buy them via third party sellers on its site.  Perhaps that is why the online retailer has turned a blind eye to the packaging on this particular Android tablet:

Just like on the box!

There are actually five different vendors selling this product on Amazon.

The Android device has what should be considered pretty blatant ripoff of iPad packaging.  Once you dig into the device, you get quite a different animal (right).

The device is said to be a 7" Android-based tablet with either 32GB of Flash and 720P display or 2GB Flash and 800x480 display (same as a smartphone) depending on what part of the specs you believe.

You'll probably want to hedge on the lower end.

The saddest part of this whole thing is I'd probably jump in and buy it if it was upgradable to Froyo. Here are the specs which show more than a few inconsistencies:

720P 800x480 display, 32GB/2GB of storage!
